Alberta deficit soars

Author: Scott Hennig 2009/08/26

Scott Hennig of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says that if Premier Ed Stelmach had kept spending growth to the same rate as population plus inflation, the province would run a $44 million surplus in fiscal 2009. Instead, the deficit will be $6.9 billion. Finance Minister Iris Evans says that tough choies will be made. The AUCC fears that bureaucrats will lose their jobs. First broadcast August 26, 2009 in Edmonton.
